Curata

Terms of Use

Last updated: October 10, 2026

The deal

Curata (curata.coffee) is run by Joyride Ventures Group LLC, a Colorado company ("we" and "us" below). By using Curata, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Curata. We wrote these to be read, so they're as short and plain as we could make them.

Who can use Curata

You need to be 18 or older to use Curata. Curata is also early: we're testing, so things will change, break and get fixed along the way.

Who this covers

In these terms, "you" and "Curator" mean anyone who uses Curata, whether you browse, rate shops, keep notes or share it with friends.

Scores are our opinion

Curata scores, labels and summaries are opinions. They reflect our judgment of a shop's coffee based on the information available to us, including the criteria in How we score, what we've been able to find, and the opinions Curators give us. They aren't statements of fact about any shop, its owners or its staff. Reasonable people can disagree with them, and they change as we learn more.

A score isn't a guarantee of what's in your cup.

Information can be wrong

Shops change, and what we have can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Curata doesn't inspect shops for cleanliness or safety, and doesn't verify what Curators or anyone else says about them. Check anything important with the shop directly, especially allergens and dietary needs.

Shops are independent

The shops on Curata are independent businesses. We don't own, run or endorse them, and we aren't responsible for anything that happens on a visit.

Your Curator ID and account

The first time you rate, write a note, flag or report a shop, Curata gives you an anonymous Curator ID stored in your browser. If you sign in, it's by a link sent to your email or with your Google account. Anyone who can open your email, or get into your Google account, can sign in as you, so keep both secure. Signing in with Google and by email link with the same address gets you the same account. One person, one Curator.

Your ratings and notes

When you rate a shop or write a note, you're sharing your own honest experience. So:

You keep ownership of what you write. You give Joyride Ventures Group LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, lasting license to use your ratings, and to use your notes as our Privacy Policy describes: to calculate scores, to personalize Curata and to contribute to summaries like "What coffee lovers say." This includes summarizing notes in our own words and, on occasion, quoting you word for word.

If you delete a note or your account, we remove your ratings from shop scores and stop using your notes for new summaries and quotes. Summaries already written from them may stay until that shop's summary is next rebuilt.

If content you post, or your breaking these terms, leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, to the extent the law allows.

We may use the flags and missing-shop reports you send us to run Curata too. They describe shops rather than you, so our permission to use them continues after we've removed anything linking them to you. After that, copies may stay in our backups until they cycle out on their normal schedule. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve Curata without owing you anything for them.

Ratings can be changed for 24 hours and are locked after that. Other Curators can't currently browse your notes, and you can edit or delete your notes any time. Until you sign in, your ratings and notes are kept with the anonymous Curator ID in your browser, and when you sign in they move to your account.

Play fair

Scores only mean something if the ratings behind them are honest. So:

Removing content

We may stop using or remove any rating or note, and may suspend an account, if we believe it breaks these terms. We apply these rules the same way whether a rating is positive or negative.

Sudden bursts of ratings on a shop may be held out of its score until a person reviews them. We make these calls from patterns, so we won't always be able to explain each one. If you think we got it wrong, email hello@curata.coffee.

If you run a shop

See For shop owners to fix information, tell us what we got wrong, or ask how to improve your score. Owners and staff aren't allowed to rate their own shop, and no one can pay for a score, a ranking or a better summary.

You can also use "Something wrong with this listing?" on your shop's page: it covers closures, shops that aren't specialty coffee and wrong information. We review these weekly. We won't change a score because an owner disagrees with it.

Curata's content

Curata's name, logo, design, scores and shop summaries belong to Joyride Ventures Group LLC. You're welcome to use Curata for yourself and to share links to it. Please don't copy our scores or summaries in bulk, republish them, or use them to build a competing directory.

No warranties

Curata is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise Curata will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available.

Limits on our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Joyride Ventures Group LLC and its members, managers, employees and contractors won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or related to Curata, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for any claim related to Curata is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100 USD.

That includes a disappointing coffee, a wasted trip or a shop that turned out to be closed. The limit is the most we could owe you for any claim, of any kind. It is not an amount we owe or will pay you. Some places don't allow limits like these, so they may not all apply to you.

Stopping

You can stop using Curata any time, and ask us to delete your data as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, and we may change, pause or shut down Curata or any part of it. Parts of these terms that should naturally continue after that, like the license to ratings you haven't asked us to delete and the limits on liability, will.

Talk to us first

If you have a problem with Curata, email hello@curata.coffee and give us 30 days to try to sort it out before starting a formal claim.

Governing law and where claims go

These terms are governed by Colorado law, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any legal claim must be brought in the state courts of Jefferson County, Colorado, or the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and you and we consent to those courts.

Changes to these terms

When we update these terms, we'll change the date at the top. For bigger changes, we'll also post a note in the app and email signed-in Curators before the changes take effect. If you keep using Curata after that, you're agreeing to the updated terms.

The rest

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't given up the right to. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Curata. You can't transfer your rights under these terms; we can transfer ours to a company that takes over Curata.
